5. Sign-in and permissions
5.1 Sign-in steps
- Open
http://localhost:8089/in a browser. - Enter:
- Coordinator server URL (e.g.
https://your-tenant.handbookx.com— if you omithttps://, the tool may prepend it) - Username (email) and password
- After a successful sign-in, you can manage sync settings.
Who may use the tool
The tool requires authentication through the Handbook X Coordinator API. Only accounts that meet one of the following conditions are allowed to use it.
1. Paid plan subscribers
If you subscribe to a paid plan, you may use this tool.
2. Use if you are not a paid-plan subscriber
Even if you are not a paid-plan subscriber, you may use the tool if you belong to a workgroup and are the workgroup owner or sharing administrator.
| Role | Meaning |
|---|---|
| owner | Workgroup owner |
| admin | Sharing administrator |
Accounts that are general members only (e.g. member) cannot use the tool.
Permissions vs. book write access
Even when sign-in succeeds, per-book edit rights still follow Coordinator. If uploads fail, check book permissions and workgroup assignment in the WebUI.
When access is denied
If you do not have permission is shown right after sign-in, check the following:
- Eligibility: Confirm you have a paid plan, or—if you are not a paid-plan subscriber—that you belong to a workgroup as owner or sharing administrator.
- Membership: Ensure you actually joined the workgroup where you have that role.
- Server URL: Confirm you are specifying the correct server name.
If unsure, contact your Handbook X administrator for plan eligibility and workgroup roles. The in-product text lists similar cases: paid-plan subscribers, workgroup owner, or workgroup sharing administrator.
