14. Push Notifications
The Android version of Handbook X supports push notifications. You can receive important information in real time even when the app is not open.
About Push Notifications
With push notifications, you can receive the following information in real time:
- Workgroup invitations
- New message notifications
- Book sharing notifications
- Other important notifications
Note: Push notifications are an Android-specific feature.
Notification Types
Workgroup Invitation Notifications
A notification is displayed when you are invited to a workgroup.
- Tapping the notification launches the app and navigates to the workgroup screen
- You can accept or reject the invitation from there
Message Notifications
A notification is displayed when you receive a new message.
- Tapping the notification launches the app and navigates to the messages screen
- You can view the message content
In-App Notifications
When you receive a notification while the app is in use:
- If the notification is for the currently logged-in account, an in-app alert is displayed
- If the notification is for a different account, it appears in the system notification bar
Notification Settings
Android Notification Settings
You can manage Handbook X notifications from the device settings.
- Open the Android "Settings" app
- Tap "Apps & Notifications" (or "Notifications")
- Select "Handbook X"
- Toggle notifications on or off
Notification Channels
Settings can be changed per notification channel:

| General | Workgroup invitations, sharing notifications, etc. |
| Messages | Message notification |
The following can be configured individually for each channel: - Show/hide notifications - Notification sound - Vibration - Display on lock screen
Initial Notification Setup
A dialog requesting push notification permission is displayed when you first log in.
- Allow: You will receive push notifications
- Deny: You will not receive push notifications (can be changed later in Android settings)
Tip: We recommend allowing notifications so you can receive workgroup invitations and messages in real time.
Troubleshooting
Notifications Not Arriving
- Check that Handbook X notifications are enabled in Android settings
- Exclude Handbook X from "Battery Optimization" (Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization → Handbook X → Don't Optimize)
- Check that the app is allowed to run in the background
- Check your internet connection
- Restart the app
Note: On some Android devices (especially Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, etc.), manufacturer-specific power-saving features may restrict background notifications. Please exclude Handbook X from battery optimization in your device settings.
